ProfileEvrika Foundation is a classical type foundation. It is a non-governmental, non-religious and non-political organization, legal entity according to the Bulgarian legislation. It is registered in the Central Register of the Ministry of Justice for the performance to the benefit of society. It was established in 1990 by a number of state and public organizations with the aim to support talented children and young people in the implementation of projects in the field of science, engineering and management; to support young innovators and entrepreneurs; to disseminate scientific and engineering knowledge and knowledge in the field of economics; to help the improvement of the material base for scientific and engineering work; to render support in education and specialization, as well as international cooperation in the fields of science and engineering. The Foundation owns capital to the amount of 5 836 000 levs. In 2007, the revenues of the Foundation amounted to 283 000 levs. The sources of funds for the activities of the Foundation are income from renting its property, donations and income from the programmes of the foundation. In the year 2007 the Foundation has helped several thousand joint and individual projects for children and young people with expressed interests in the field of science, engineering and management and has provided support to several thousand talented young people. For this purpose more than 594 thousand levs have been spent. During 2007, the Foundation maintained its wide specter of activities and services, namely granting financial aid, providing loans at preferential interest rates, providing free consultations, free information services, sharing participation in venture companies for the realization of research products, providing technical means, publishing activities, etc. Only for the last year Evrika Foundation has: · Supported the participation in scientific forums abroad and short-term specializations of five young scientists and specialists; · Paid scholarships to 44 students and pupils, winners in national and international Olympiads, for excellent marks and participation in scientific and research works, as well as donations, given for a special purpose; · Financed on competition basis 3 new scientific research works of teams of young scientists; · Supported the organization of 18 significant scientific and engineering events for children and young people at home, as well as 8 editing, educational, scientific and informational projects. · Supported the publishing of useful reference books and acted as co-editor of the popular magazines “Computer” and “Make it Yourself”; · Rendered free consultations to several thousand young people on the legal protection of intellectual property and commercial law issues; · Supported many educational, scientific and innovation projects of and for young people. As in previous years, in cooperation with other organizations competitions were organized for presenting the prestigious Evrika awards for achievements in science, young inventor, young manager and young farmer. In the Foundation, decisions are taken ten times during the year and the following limitations are introduced: · The young people should not be more than 35 years old; · The activities of the Foundation should not aim to achieve political and ideological goals.
EVRIKA awards As in the previous years in cooperation with other organisations were carried out the competitions for the selection of the winners of the prestigious EVRIKA awards. One of the most important activities of the Foundation is the competition for the Evrika Awards. There are three types of awards: young inventor, young farmer, and young manager. These awards express the willingness of Evrika Foundation to discover and support young people with proven abilities and skills. Winners are chosen based on the sustained improvement of their result achieved in the respective field. The Evrika Awards for young inventor is given to a young inventor whose inventions has had a significant impact on scientific and technological progress on a world-wide scale and on the development of society.The Evrika Award for young manager is given to a young person under 35, who has achieved the best results in the field of management and has proven his or hers entrepreneurial spirit, assertiveness, communication ability, and language or computer skills.The Evrika Award for young farmer is given to a young farmer with both highly productive and highly profitable agricultural production.
